Waste-to-energy plants

Waste-to-energy plants (WtE) are among the most technologically demanding facilities for piping systems. The combustion of municipal and industrial waste produces flue gases with high temperatures, aggressive chemical composition, and an elevated proportion of solid particles – conditions that place extreme demands on the durability and tightness of expansion joints.

KDMM fabric expansion joints are proven and reliable elements in these facilities, ensuring a tight and flexible connection between individual parts of the piping system even under long-term exposure to aggressive environments.

Typical applications in waste-to-energy plants:

  • Boiler sealing and transitions between the boiler and flue gas duct
  • Expansion joints in installed air ducts and flue gas distribution systems
  • Flexible connections in flue gas cleaning systems (filtration, neutralization)
  • Expansion joints at fans and induced draft equipment
  • Fabric expansion joints in ducts downstream of electrostatic precipitators and fabric filters

Thanks to their ability to capture simultaneous axial, lateral, and angular movements and withstand temperatures up to +1,200 °C, KDMM fabric expansion joints are the standard choice of designers and operators of WtE facilities throughout Europe.
